What We Do:
Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer Lifecraft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 1,000 staff. Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 20,000 youth ages 4-18 annually in and from 110+ Title I schools across LA County!

Role Overview:
The STEM Associate will research and identify promising practices to create curriculum and develop training to support high quality program implementation. The STEM Associate will work as part of the Learning & Development department and work collaboratively to develop and refine curriculum and training on topics such as: General Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Gardening, Robotics, 3D Printing, Coding, and Esports. The STEM Associate will also do visits to program sites to provide technical assistance, provide support at the site, and provide training on STEM strategies. The STEM Associate will also collaborate with specific Club Leaders to create and develop curriculum and cycle plans for staff to implement if there is a need for specialty enrichment programs.
The STEM Associate position is a hybrid position, including working in-person, at school sites and remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Research best practices in youth development to inform content development.
- Maintain and provide ongoing updates to the curriculum library and ensure communication for cycle plans is consistent.
- Identify and coordinate potential partners that would provide curriculum for staff.
- Implement STEM content training for Woodcraft Rangers club leaders.
- Conduct program site visits to provide technical assistance to STEM club leaders.
- Development of program support tools and resources as needed.
- Work with Associate Director of Learning to set targets, manage projects, and evaluate progress and impact.
- Work with Learning Team to align best practices and guide collective efforts.
- Develop new activities and adapt existing curriculum to meet the needs of specialty `programs.
- Help create assessment tools to monitor implementation of activities.
- Consult with specialty enrichment Club Leaders to develop new curriculum.
- Develop curriculum for assigned grade levels and subjects, adhering to state and national standards.
- Participate in staff development training as required, approximately 40 hours / year.
- Ensure program compliance and program quality are met according to funding, partner and WR guidelines and requirements.
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- AA Degree in Child Development or a related field is preferred or minimum of one year of experience as a group leader working with children and six units in child development.
- Enthusiastic to work well with youth development staff and/or youth.
- Good oral and written communication.
- Ability to travel to the various regions that have Woodcraft Rangers programs to support or deliver in person training. Regions would include San Fernando Valley, South Los Angeles, West Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley, Southeast LA, and Downtown areas.

Status: Full time; Non-Exempt
Hourly or Salary Range: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Hours of Operation: 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday (with some variation possible). May need to be available on weekends.
