Camp Woodcraft, one of California’s original and most inclusive camp programs, serves as a year-round outdoor education and retreat center in Big Bear. From science-based school retreats, summer sleepaway camp, and wellness retreats to family camps and community gatherings, we provide immersive opportunities for young people to connect, learn, and grow in nature.

Role Overview:

The Camp Coordinator is a key member of the core camp team, reporting to the Camp Manager and working closely with the Camp Director and team. This role is responsible for helping in the development, planning, and implementation of all year-round camp programming, including summer camp and school retreats. The Camp Coordinator ensures programs are engaging, safe, and mission-aligned, while supporting staff, managing logistics, and providing excellent service to families. This position combines strategic planning with hands-on execution, bridging program vision with day-to-day operations.
 

Responsibilities:

· Collaborate with Camp Manager, Camp Director, and core camp team to design, implement, and continuously improve program offerings, schedules, and curriculum across all programs
· Develop and maintain staff training materials, manuals, and program guides to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery
· Prepare purchase orders and manage inventory needs for program supplies and materials
· Partner with camp administrator to coordinate transportation and program logistics
· Provide timely, responsive customer service to camp families
· Partner with camp administrator to manage participant communications including confirmations, pre-camp information, and follow-ups
· Support recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding for program staff
· Support and help lead the execution of daily programming, ensuring activities are engaging, safe, and aligned with program goals
· Coordinate and facilitate large group activities and all-camp experiences
· Work closely with the Camp Manager, Camp Director, and core camp team, as well as cross-functional staff (health, facilities, etc.), to ensure seamless operations
· Provide hands-on support to staff to maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-run camp environment
· Step into leadership roles as needed to problem-solve and adapt programming in real time
· Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

· Minimum High School Diploma or GED (AA Degree in Child Development or a related field preferred); prior experience working with groups of K-12 students in an academic or recreational setting preferred.

· Must be First Aid/CPR certified. (Training provided by Woodcraft Rangers)

· TB Clearance

· Successful completion of livescan/background check with DOJ, FBI

· Must submit health history records prior to first day of work.

· Possess attributes that contribute to camper success (enthusiasm, integrity, compassion, trustworthiness, patience and respect)

· Experience working with youth in a camp environment preferred, a minimum of one year working with youth in any setting.

· Ability to perform traditional camp activities (hike, chants, stand for extended periods of time, etc.)

· Possess the cognitive, auditory, and visual abilities to perform described duties at camp

· Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects

· Must be able to stay at camp in Big Bear Valley, CA during camp sessions
 

Skills:

· Experience planning and running youth programs

Status: Full Time; Non-exempt

Hourly Range: $26.78-$34.61

Schedule: 40 hours/week
